• School Closings/Delays: In an effort to help reduce the spread of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear has called on all public and private schools across the Commonwealth to close for the next two (2) weeks. As a result, the Harlan Independent School District will be cancelling school effective Monday, March 16th. The closure will be in effect through April 3rd. Students will return to normal schedule on Monday, April 6th. The regularly scheduled Spring Break is scheduled for March 30-April 03. As a result, our students will have three weeks off before returning on April 6th. Students and families have received several notices regarding the emergency education plan that is being implemented during this time. Students will be participating in NTI/Dragon Days on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday of each week. There will be not assignments on Tuesdays and Thursday of each week. Teachers and employees will be available to all students and families during this time for assistance and support. Additionally, the district is providing both breakfast and lunch for all students free of charge. School buses will be utilized to cover Laptop computers, internet access, and other school resources will also be available to all students during this time. Schools and offices will be open during this time, we encourage anyone with questions to contact the Harlan Independent School District at 606-573-8700.
