⭐️Talent abounds at HMS! At the second annual HMS Talent Show, students wowed the audience and rocked the stage with talents ranging from singing, dancing, and playing musical instruments, to beatboxing! Thank you to these amazing performers for sharing their wide range of talents! The show was sponsored by FRYSC. Dragons Beyond the Bell will be canceled on Thursday, May 2nd, due to a district-wide meeting. This will be our last week of DBB for the school year.

Partners for Rural Impact took the HMS Medical Explorers Team to Harlan ARH where they participated in a simulated surgery and other hands-on experiences. Big thanks to everyone who made this possible for our students! 👨‍⚕️👩‍⚕️

🏆 Recently, the 2024 KAAC Governor's Cup state finals competition was held in Louisville, where several Harlan Independent students competed in various academic events. The individual future problem-solving (FPS) competition was also held during this time, and the results of that competition were recently released. We are so proud that Miranda Brock placed fifth in the state in the individual FPS competition! This is an accomplishment that only a small percentage of competitors ever achieve. The FPS team is coached by Mrs. Pat Bryson. We are beyond proud of you, Miranda! #GoBigGreen

🎵🎵🎵 Congratulations to the Harlan Independent Band students who participated in the KMEA Solo and Ensemble Festival on Saturday! A total of 24 students in beginning band, intermediate band, and high school band performed a solo and/or and small ensemble piece for a judge with EACH receiving a Distinguished rating! 🐉 🐉 🐉 We are so very proud of all our band students! #dragonpride #gobiggreen

3rd and 4th grade students enjoyed celebrating the Kentucky Derby with the HES traditional Derby breakfast. The students and staff dressed to impress for the event and enjoyed a delicious meal. 🍽️🍳🐎

🚀 Field Trip Time!! The 7th Grade at HMS won a grade-level attendance competition sponsored by Partners for Rural Impact and as a result, got to experience a space-based learning environment at The Challenger Learning Center of Kentucky in Hazard. 🚀
