Construction Work
Construction crews have taken advantage of Spring Break to accelerate work on facility upgrades across the district.

Investments of more than $7,000,000 are currently underway at the Harlan Independent School District.

An extensive renovation to the Francis-Hamlin auditorium as well as expansion of the cafeteria at Harlan Elementary can be seen in the photos below.

Construction crews have put in long hours to prepare for a new entry/exit at Harlan High that will give students and staff easy access to an expanded and renovated cafeteria. Additionally, classrooms continue to receive new ceilings, LED lighting, paint, and flooring while bathrooms are undergoing a complete makeover.

More than 10 tons of rubber mulch was also added to the playground at Harlan Elementary.

To improve security and acces controls in all buildings, an integrated system of card readers that includes video/audio features will blanket the campus.

Over the coming months, we will continue to see substanial improvements throughout the Central Street campus and appreciate your cooperation as work impacts all of our facilities.

While we are excited about this investment in our faculties, we recognize that the single most important element of student achievement starts with high quality instruction by dedicated staff.

The Harlan Independent School district is committed to providing our students and families with fantastic facilities and the same high quality educational experience you have come to expect for more than 100 years.
