On Friday, our students, staff, and community had the special privilege of welcoming Senator Scott Madon to Harlan Independent School District. His visit was both inspiring and encouraging—a wonderful reminder of how powerful it is when leaders invest time in the next generation.

Throughout the day, Senator Madon joined families for the HES Grandparents Breakfast, toured classrooms to see students actively engaged in learning and leading their own projects, participated in the District Cancer Walk, and spoke to classes about public service, civic engagement, and leadership. He also spent meaningful time with teachers and staff, celebrating successes, listening to their experiences, and hearing firsthand about the opportunities and challenges in education today.

Thank you, Senator Madon, for taking time out of your busy schedule to visit Harlan Elementary, Harlan Middle, and Harlan High School. Most of all, thank you for encouraging our future leaders and showing how much you care about education and community. 💚🐉

🐉 We would like to congratulate our 7/8 Green Dragon Football Team on a fantastic end to the season as they took down Pineville yesterday evening. These Dragons have improved every single game and have dedicated themselves to the process of being great. We are thankful to the coaching staff that has poured into these kids, the families for their continued support, and the amazing students themselves that have given their all on the field. Next stop, state playoffs!!! Let's go Green Dragons! 🐉

What a season it has been for our 5th & 6th Grade Green Dragons Football Team! Last night, under the lights and in front of a packed crowd, the Dragons capped off their UNDEFEATED regular season with a hard-fought 30–26 victory over Pineville.

With the win, the Dragons not only finish the regular season perfect, but they also secured the #1 overall seed heading into the conference playoffs! This is a huge accomplishment and a testament to the countless hours of practice, preparation, and teamwork these young men have put in.

We want to give a huge shoutout to Coach Frank Shope and his staff for their leadership, guidance, and belief in these players. Coach Shope has not only taught them the game of football but also the values of discipline, teamwork, and perseverance that will serve them well beyond the field.

To our players — congratulations on this remarkable achievement. Undefeated seasons don’t happen by accident. You earned this through hard work, sacrifice, and a commitment to one another. You’ve made the entire Green Dragon community proud, and we can’t wait to follow you into the playoffs as you chase a championship. 🐉
