🎉 Big News! Our FPS Junior Team is Headed to STATE! 🎉
At HMS, our standard is Excellence— and these students have far exceeded that! We are beyond proud to announce that our Future Problem Solving (FPS) Junior Division team has qualified 1st overall in a highly competitive field of 33 teams from across the state! This incredible achievement qualifies them for the State Competition on March 14, 2025, at the Governor’s Cup State Finals! 🏆

Principal Dr. Williams shared his excitement, saying:
"This is a tremendous honor for these students and a testament to their hard work, creativity, and teamwork. We couldn’t be more proud of their accomplishments, and we’re excited to see them shine on the state stage!"
Coach Chris Howard also expressed his pride, stating:
"These students have put in so much dedication and effort to achieve this. Watching them collaborate, think critically, and push themselves to new heights has been incredible. I’m so excited to see them continue to grow and compete at the state level and beyond!"
But the journey doesn’t stop here! If our team finishes in the top 5 at the State Competition, they will advance to the Future Problem Solving International Competition at Indiana University in June, where they would compete against the best problem solvers from around the world! 🌍🏅
Last year, the International Conference hosted 1,263 champions from 12 countries and 242 schools/groups—an incredible experience that we hope to be a part of this year!

🐉 Today was the first day of our 4th Grade Transition at HMS! Our first group of students from 4th grade came over to the Middle School and shadowed for the entire day while seeing what a full day at HMS looks like. 4th Grade Transition will continue with different groups of students for the next four days! We are excited to welcome our newest group of Dragons at HMS!
The Harlan Elementary School Academic Team dominates onces again. Running their District streak to 8 while scoring a whopping 74 points. The 74 points are the 6th highest point total in the state and Sawyer Crow delivers the top score in Kentucky in Social Studies.
