🎉🎉🎉 The Harlan Middle School Junior Beta Club was selected as a recipient of this year's School of Distinction award. This competitive award is only given to select schools in the nation that meet and exceed service, achievement, and leadership requirements and expectations. Specifically, the club's Christmas toy drive for the Mike Howard Mountain Santa Missionary is highlighted as an outstanding act of community service. The Junior Beta Club is sponsored by Mr. Tyler Saylor and consists of students in grades 6-8 with a 3.5 or higher GPA. Students in the Junior Beta Club participate in community-service projects and show the true meaning of leadership. Additionally, the National Beta Club awards nearly $6 million dollars in scholarship money annually to graduating seniors who have been Beta members throughout their public-education careers.
"The students in this club continue to show their commitment to excellence in academics and the community. I appreciate the time and effort they have shown while being members of the Junior Beta Club. I am very blessed to be their teacher and club sponsor," says Club sponsor Mr. Tyler Saylor.

Each year it is given to the young person that exemplifies the mission of the Boys and Girls Club, celebrating the nation’s most inspiring teens and their incredible journeys. The award includes a $2,500 scholarship and a trip to the regional competition in Chicago!
