🎉🎉🎉 We would like to give a huge congratulations to Harlan High School Junior, Kaleb McLendon for being selected as the 2022 Kentucky Youth of the Year!
Each year it is given to the young person that exemplifies the mission of the Boys and Girls Club, celebrating the nation’s most inspiring teens and their incredible journeys. The award includes a $2,500 scholarship and a trip to the regional competition in Chicago!

The HISD Board of Education suspend K12“Virtual” school options for 22-23 school year & heard an update on Non-Resident Student enrollment. There will be no tuition for 2022-2023 for all K12 Students regardless of where you live.

Harlan Elementary School Teacher Spotlight: Mrs. Tasha Howard
Fourth graders are reviewing for state testing Amazing Race style! Ten teams of students race and compete to answer comprehensive questions while practicing their test taking strategies. In this race, students go to 6 roadblocks each representing a different testing area (Western Sahara Word Problems, Poem Portugal, Energy Egypt, Mixed Number Madagascar, France Fiction, and Solar Power Spain). While at these roadblocks, students must choose an activity to complete in order to gain and answer questions. They also participate in a detour just like the TV show. The first team to complete the final destination wins!!
