We would like to share some exciting announcements and highlights from the high school over the past few weeks.
Firstly, we are excited to announce the launch of the Harlan High School Financial Management Entrepreneurial Project - Harlan Dragon’s Kitchen, which provides students with hands-on experience in financial planning and entrepreneurship.
We are grateful for the support of our local businesses, including Cash Saver, Don's Super Saver, Southern Wholesale, Customs by V T-shirts, and Shirt Shack. Their contributions make a significant difference in our students' learning journey.
We would also like to thank Kyle Wilson with BoomKY for their guidance and support throughout this endeavor.
In light of recent successes, we have been able to offer lunch to the hardworking Harlan Independent School Staff on 3 separate occasions, thanks to the dedication and efforts of our students.
As we continue to strive for excellence, we want to express our sincerest gratitude for your continued partnership and support. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of our students.

🎵🎵🎵 Congratulations to the Harlan Independent Band students who participated in the KMEA Solo and Ensemble Festival on Saturday! A total of 24 students in beginning band, intermediate band, and high school band performed a solo and/or and small ensemble piece for a judge with EACH receiving a Distinguished rating! 🐉 🐉 🐉 We are so very proud of all our band students! #dragonpride #gobiggreen
🏆 Recently, the 2024 KAAC Governor's Cup state finals competition was held in Louisville, where several Harlan Independent students competed in various academic events. The individual future problem-solving (FPS) competition was also held during this time, and the results of that competition were recently released. We are so proud that Miranda Brock placed fifth in the state in the individual FPS competition! This is an accomplishment that only a small percentage of competitors ever achieve. The FPS team is coached by Mrs. Pat Bryson. We are beyond proud of you, Miranda! #GoBigGreen

Kevin Cavins, AVP/Mortgage Originator from Monticello Bank, took time today to speak with Dr. Edens College and Career Readiness class. After a nice breakfast treat from Mr. Cavins, students learned about bank fraud, the importance of a good credit score, interest rates, and home/auto loans. We appreciate Monticello Bank for investing in our students to set them up for a successful life after graduation!

🥎 HHS Lady Dragons WIN! 🥎 Tonight the Lady Dragons defeated Barbourville 11-1. The Lady Dragons got off to a hot start in the 1st inning with Ella Lisenbee hitting a DINGER! On the evening, Addison Jackson went 3-4, Ava Nunez went 2-3, and Gracie Hensley went 2-3 to add plenty of offensive action. To sum it all up, the Lady Dragons were on fire!! 🔥🔥
