🐉🐉🐉 We would like to welcome our newest addition to the Dragon Family, James (Jamie) Roan. Jamie is from Pineville and graduated in 2013. For the past five years he has been working with FRYSC at Pineville and has assisted with their football program. Jamie is very excited about this new opportunity and cannot wait to get to work with the students of Harlan Independent. Jamie will be joining Harlan Middle School in a support staff role and will be an assistant on the coaching staff for the Harlan High School Football Team. The STEM Explorer Camp is designed to ignite a passion for science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The program engages students in hands-on activities, challenges, and other interactive learning experiences. Each day, students will be introduced to a different STEM topic to explore, including cybersecurity, Al, micropipettes, circuits, and much more!
The Cyber Arcade will provide a fun and creative introduction to computer science and hands-on making for makers with little to no experience in programming and 3D design. Using a Micro:bit (a pocket-sized computer) and MakeCode, young makers practice problem-solving and teamwork to create interactive arcade games. Makers have opportunities to develop knowledge in computer science, engineering, art, and game design, as well as gain exposure to real-world industry concepts.

The SEBT program aims to provide additional nutritional support to eligible students (age 6-17) who have received SNAP, KTAP, and /or Kinship Care for at least one month since July 1st , 2023, and students who are deemed income eligible through an approved SEBT application. Students who do not fall into the above category, and are within the income eligibility limits, can apply for SEBT Online at https://KYSEBT.ky.gov/ or can be addressed through http://kynect.ky.gov/benefits/
