📣 State Testing Begins Monday at Harlan Elementary! 🐉✏️ State assessments start Monday, April 28, and we’re ready to encourage and support our amazing students as they show what they know! 📚✏️ State Testing Week is Coming to Harlan Elementary! Let’s Make It Amazing! ✏️📚 We’re excited to support our students during state testing week and need your help Dragon Families to make it a fun and encouraging experience! 💪 We’re asking for support in two ways: 1️⃣ Donations – Help us keep our students energized with snacks and drinks! You can donate items like 2 liter bottles of Coca-Cola, Capri Suns, bottled water, nacho chips and cheese, snack cakes, granola bars, gummies or vanilla ice cream. Or feel free to give a monetary donation. 2️⃣ Decorations – Come help decorate the school and leave a note of encouragement for your Dragon! May is just around the corner and it appears we have some seniors who have a serious case of senioritis. There is a false social media post regarding no school for Friday, April 25th due to Internet and Water outages. They get an A for effort, but unfortunately that post if false. As much as we would all enjoy an extra day off in April we will have school tomorrow so we don’t have to make it up at the end of May. Remember, the Harlan Independent School District will be on a regular schedule for Friday, April 25th. Again, we will be on a regular schedule for Friday, April 25th.

In a special called meeting on Monday, the Harlan Independent Board of Education unanimously voted to appoint Mrs. Jennifer Parsons as the next Superintendent of the Harlan Independent School District. She will assume the role on July 1, 2025, succeeding current Superintendent C.D. Morton, who previously announced his resignation effective June 30th. Congratulations to Mrs. Jennifer Parsons!

Harlan Elementary students in Mrs. Dixon’s math class are wrapping up their measurement and data unit with engaging activities. Students focused on determining the length of objects by using nonstandard units of measurement. They were also introduced to standard units and measured the length of objects using appropriate tools.
