Harlan Technology Student Association competed at the KYTSA state competition to start off this week. It came down to a tiebreaker question for our Technology Bowl team, as Cameron Reynolds, Kevin Lee, and Sayed Damaa fell short of a top 3 place finish, finishing the set of matches in 4th place in the state! Sayed Damaa did earn Harlan’s first top 3 placement at the state competition with a 2nd place finish in Extemporaneous Speech, where participants are given a random STEM topic and must impress judges with their knowledge and understanding of the topic with no preparation beforehand.
We’re proud of all of our Harlan TSA members this year, ending a very successful year with multiple placements at region and this placement at state. Sayed Damaa does have the opportunity to compete at the National level in Orlando, Florida this summer because of his placement! 🐉🐉🐉
⚾️ CONGRATULATIONS to our Green Dragons for winning the 13th Region All "A" Championship! The Dragons defeated Jackson County 8-6 in tonight's championship game at Jackson County. Way to go, Green! 🐉

The Lady Dragons piled up a total of 19 hits during the game, being led offensively by Ella Lisenbee with 4 hits during her 4 at bats!! Let's go, Lady Dragons - we are so proud of you!! 🥎
🐉 🎓 HHS seniors participated in the annual Adulting Day, sponsored by FRYSC and PRI, to learn more about life after graduation! Following sessions on safety, personal finance, voting, and mock interviews, seniors enjoyed an etiquette lunch, learned how to tie neckties, and won prizes. Thank you to all the volunteers who made this day possible!

This week in HHS Softball action, Addison Jackson hit her 8th career homerun and Jordyn Smith hit her very FIRST career homerun against Barbourville. Let's go, ladies!! ☕️☕️☕️ Coffee Cart!!! Students in Mrs Middleton’s life skills class started a coffee cart business where they sell coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and snack cakes to staff. This business allows students to learn and practice important skills, such as greeting customers, taking and filling orders, and understanding the value of money.
⚾️ 🌧 Today's Green Dragon baseball game has been canceled due to rain.
The Financial Management Class kicked off their entrepreneurial project today by having a "trial run" on the Harlan Dragon's Kitchen Food Truck. The students worked diligently to serve the staff lunch at Harlan Independent School. The students have been partnering with BOOMKY to work towards showcasing their creativity and business acumen. We look forward to seeing their innovative ideas come to life!
