Harlan High School UNITE club members worked to engrave ornaments for an after-school elementary event, where students would get to decorate them as an activity. UNITE Club senior members (pictured left to right) Donavan Montanaro, Malachi Rodriguez, Morgan Pyles, and Tayquan Vick delivered the ornaments. Sophomore Jasmine Johnson worked the software to program the beambox to engrave the designs on the ornaments.

Students in Mrs. Luttrell's English II classes recently visited the Nancy & David Wolf Holocaust & Humanity Center in Cincinnati, OH. Sponsored by HHS GEAR-UP, the trip began by visiting Northern Kentucky University.
Mrs. Luttrell's students have been studying Man's Inhumanity to Man through learning about the events and causes that led to the Holocaust. Visiting the museum allowed the students to experience stories of "courage, perseverance, loss, redemption...told by Holocaust survivors." Students explored characteristic strengths needed to become upstanders to injustice.
Visiting the museum humanizes the horrific event of the Holocaust for students, and they will now be able to make connections to the events and atrocities of the Holocaust when reading Nobel prize winner Eli Wiesel's memoir Night.

This past week, the SKMA All-Festival Choir Festival was held in Corbin, KY. Congratulations to Ethan Farley, Jacob Baker, and Connor Witt. They auditioned several weeks ago and were able to participate in the SATB choir. The choir rehearsed for 3 days and gave their final concert in the Corbin Central Baptist Church. The guest conductor was Daniel Wesley. Mr. Wesley is the Director of Choirs at Lexington Christian Academy and the Artistic Director of the acclaimed Lexington Singers Childrenββs Choir. This is Ms. Schraederβs 51st year accompanying the SATB choir! πΆπΆπ

From the "Family of Dragons" we want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving Day. Of the many things to be grateful for today, we are especially thankful for our wonderful Green Dragon school community. Without our dedicated students and staff, the magic would not be possible!

πΆ Earlier this week, eight Green Dragons tried out for the SKMA All Festival honors band, and we are proud to say that all eight students made it! They traveled to Williamsburg High School and the University of the Cumberlands for three days of rehearsal and then performed in a concert last night. Congratulations! π
