Harlan Independent Schools would like to congratulate Harlan High School students, Taylor Hall and Jolena Nguyen, for being accepted into SOAR KY's Appalachian Nursing Academy. Taylor and Jolena are two of twenty-five students accepted into this highly competitive program. They will spend two weeks on UPike's campus with 23 other students from around our region. While on campus, they will spend time in the classroom, have hands-on experiences, and shadowing opportunities at University of Pikeville Medical Center. They will also be receiving one-on-one mentoring with medical professionals. Both girls are also awarded $1500 scholarships. Such an awesome opportunity for these two young ladies. #familyofdragons

Last week was "Out of this World"! Visiting the Challenger Center and getting to experience Mission Mars was stellar! Summer camps continue this week with College Road Trip Week! Transportation, food, and activities are all 100% FREE, so share with any students going into 5th grade or higher!

🎉🎉🎉 Today was closing day for the Harlan Independent School District. The school year culminated in a wonderful celebration of the Green Dragon Family this morning with a breakfast provided by our fantastic cafeteria staff! We would like to thank our teachers, staff, and food services staff for their dedication to the Harlan Independent School District this year. 🏈 The Green Dragon Youth Football Camp for rising 3rd-8th graders will be Thursday, June 16th and Friday, June 17th from 5:30-8:30 pm. The camp will be $25 and any child may attend regardless of what school they attend. Go Dragons!🐉
