Harlan Musettes are selling Singing 🎶 Telegrams for Valentine’s Day 💚
For singing telegrams delivered during the school day the price is $5. If a singing telegram will be delivered after school then the price is $10.
The songs will be sung during 6th period (1:15 PM - 2:10 PM) on Tuesday February 14th. If they cannot all be completed that day then the remaining ones will be delivered February 15th. Contact Miss Schraeder at the High School if you are interested in purchasing one or would like more information!
Deadline to purchase a singing telegram is February 9th.

The Harlan High School Cheerleaders are coming home with some championship hardware after competing in the All A Classic State Tournament. The HHS Cheerleaders were crowned the 2023 Boys All A Classic In-Game State Champions on Friday morning at EKU.

HHS Unite Club recently completed posters for an awareness campaign. Students had to design and work on their own posters with their own creative twist on sayings and artwork to help spread awareness about making the conscious decision to live an alcohol/drug/tobacco free lifestyle. 🐉 🏀 HHS 76 - PHS 72, Harlan High School wins big at home in a game that came down to the wire against visiting Pikeville High School. This was another electrifying game by the Green Dragons and if you have not had a chance yet, go watch them play! As the Green Dragons prepare for the All-A Classic this week, they notched another one in their win category this season.
The next time these boys take to the court, they will be in Richmond tipping off against Martin County High School in the All-A Classic. That game starts at 10:00 AM this Thursday at the Alumni Coliseum in Richmond, Kentucky.

Harlan Independent is proud of all academic gains made by students within our district. With just half a school year behind us and another half to go, we are proud to celebrate the gains we have made towards benchmark in mathematics. 63% of our College and Career Readiness (CCR) Mathematics students have already earned benchmark score as determined by their score on the Kentucky Online Testing Assessment (KYOTE).
KYOTE is administered throughout the school year periodically in line with curriculum in the CCR Mathematics course to provide seniors an opportunity to earn benchmark score in mathematics. The scores are comparable to other standardized tests such as the ACT or SAT. Being such, this opportunity provides students the chance to bypass any remedial courses in college and saves them money! As we look ahead to the remainder of the school year, we are excited to see that percentage increase!

The Harlan Independent FRYSC is sponsoring a Say Yes to a Dress event on February 6th from 4:00 - 6:30 pm at the Harlan Center. The event, open to the public, is a formal dress buy and sell event. Bring your previously worn dresses to sell or you may also browse through a collection of FREE dresses for your next formal event. Come check out the formal dresses for your next homecoming, pageant, prom, snowball, father/daughter dance, etc.

HMS wins its fourth consecutive (17th in the last 21 years) District Ky. Governor's Cup Academic Team competition. Hosted by Wallins, Harlan downs Rosspoint, JACES, Wallins, and Green Hills while capturing 1st place in FPS, Quick Recall, and Overall Champ.
