βΎοΈ Today is the first mandatory practice of the 2023 baseball season. We are extremely excited to get this year underway. For those student-athletes interested in playing, you must have a current physical to participate. Please dress warm and bring your glove and cleats. We will supply the rest. Practice will begin at 4 pm. Be dressed and ready no later than 3:45! Go big green!!!

Senior Recognition Week: Winter Sport Athletes.
π Peighton Jones has been a player for the Harlan Lady Dragons for 4 years. Her passion for the sport extends since before high school, as she has played the sport for 8 years at least. During her time with the high school she was part of the All-A Region Runner Up team in 22/23 and was named to the All-A Tournament Team in 2022. Passionate on the court, Peighton shows an equal amount in the classroom. Throughout her high school tenure she has maintained a 4.0 GPA while still participating in basketball and other extra-curricular activities.

π Will Austin has been a part of the Dragons' basketball team for 3 years now. Among the team and individual recognitions, Will remembers the 4x All-A Region Championships, WYMT All Tournament Team, 3x All District Team, 500 Rebound club, and 52nd District MVP. Will also has a passion for Football, where he played 2 years for the Dragons with a distinction of being named the Defensive Back of the Year for the 13th Region. Will manages his extra-curricular involvements well and his academics just the same. Will maintains above a 3.4 GPA average and finds success everyday in the classroom.

π£ Abigail Wynn has been a part of the Harlan High School cheerleading squad for 4 years. Abigail has always had a passion for cheerleading, giving 8 years of her time to the sport. She was part of the squads that won All-A Runner up a couple of years back and went back to win two All-A State Cheerleading Championships. Abigail does tremendous work on the court or field cheering, but the classroom is where she truly shines. Abigail has maintained a 4.0 GPA and was recognized by receiving the WYMT Mountain Classic Scholarship.

HHS UNITE Club had their t-shirts come in today! You'll see these students, who made the pledge to live a drug-free lifestyle, sporting a nice UNITE Tee and bracelet. T-shirts were distributed today and the club continued their awareness campaign by hanging up previously made posters in designated spots throughout the high school. π Jae'dyn Gist is a 5 year member of the Harlan Independent Varsity basketball team. Jae'dyn has been involved with basketball the majority of his life, accounting for 12 years playing and loving the sport. Among the team and individual recognitions, Jae'dyn has the WYMT Mountain Classic All Tournament, 4x All-A Region Champion, 4x All-A Tournament team, All-A State 2nd Team, 4x All District team, 1000 point club, 1000 rebound club, and 3x All Region team. In the classroom, Jae'dyn excels as well, averaging for a 3.4 GPA and having received the William C. Parker and Merit Tier 4 Scholarships.

π£ Haylee Mae Couch is a 3 year member of the Harlan Cheerleading squad. She serves as a base in most floor routines for the team. Over the last couple of years she has had the privilege of being a part of the squads to win the All-A State Cheerleading Championship two years in a row! Despite being very active with cheerleading and other extra-curriculares, Haylee maintains a 3.7 GPA and excels in all her coursework. #MoreThanASchool
