πŸ‰Harlan High School had a great race yesterday in Somerset! Harper Carmical finished 5thΒ @ 22:38.22 for the girls. She is working hard towards her goal for another State appearance.Β  The Harlan boys team had some major gains! They all finished under 24 minutes! We are knocking seconds and sometimes minutes off each race and continue to perform. Dalton Halcomb, Cooper Thomas, and Garrett Wilder had huge PR's today! Leading the boys was Dalton Halcomb. Dalton finally reached under 20, at 19:56.68. Cooper Thomas keeps pushing towards his goal of "sub-20". His PR today was 20:41.63. And Garrett Wilder, our Senior boy, has grown so much over this season. He has cut minutes off his time every week! He finished with a PR of 21:27.82. We are so proud of all of our runners. As we head into the end of our season, we believe that our team is peaking at the right time. We can't wait to see how they show up in a few weeks at region.Β πŸ‰πŸ‰πŸŒŸ Girls Harper Carmical (5th)- 22:38.22 Gwen Toll- 31:03.46 Salena Amro-43:17.27 Boys: Dalton Halcomb- 19:56.68 Cooper Thomas- 20:41.63 Gibson Wilder- 20:53.74 Garrett Wilder-21:27.82 Cruz Galloway-23:35.97 Xavier Farley- 23:51.32

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ In Ms. Maggard’s civics class, students experienced another vibrant learning opportunity by creating black out poetry from the 27 grievances in the Declaration of Independence. This engaging activity allowed students to dive deeply into the historical context while channeling their inner creativity! By carefully selecting words and phrases to craft original poems, students connected personally with the colonists’ complaints against British rule, making history come alive in a fresh and meaningful way!
