Course Description:
In Geometry, you will develop reasoning and problem solving skills as you study topics such as congruence and similarity, and apply properties of lines, triangles, quadrilaterals, and circles. You will also develop problem solving skills by using lengths, perimeter, area, circumference, surface area, and volume to solve real-world problems.

Geometry provides instruction and practice on standardized test questions in a variety of formats ā€“ multiple choice, short response, extended response, and so on.  Technology support for both learning geometry and preparing for standardized tests is available at classzone.com.

Topics Covered include, but not limited to:
ā€¢    Points, Lines & Planes
ā€¢    Triangles
ā€¢    Figures in the Plane
ā€¢    Circles & measurement

Goal:
The goal of Geometry is to prepare students for higher level thinking in mathematics through the building of skill knowledge, the mastering of key concepts, and the development of problem-solving strategies.

Grading Policy:
Homework/Assignments will be given on a daily basis.  These assignments will be scored on the point system.

Evaluations include quizzes, tests, activities, and projects.
ā€¢    Quizzes will be graded on points.  Each problem on a quiz will generally be worth 1 point, so a 10-question quiz would be work 10 points.
ā€¢    Tests, daily assignments and notebook will be based on points
ā€¢    Activities & Projects will be graded on points and assigned when appropriate.

9 Week Grade =     Daily Avg + Quizzes + Tests + Activities         X  100
                TOTAL POINTS POSSIBLE   

Class Expectations:
1)    When the tardy bell rings, class begins.
2)    Respect everyone in the classroom.
3)    Bring materials to class (e.g., book, paper, pencil, etc.).
4)    Do not eat or drink in the classroom.
5)    Be responsible! When you are absent YOU are responsible for your make up work!
6)    Keep an organized notebook containing notes, assignments, worksheets, and activities.
