The Harlan High School Marching Band will be making its thirteenth consecutive trip to the Kentucky Music Educations Association (KMEA) State Marching competition after a rain covered performance at Bourbon County High School.
Under the direction of Mrs. Betsy Burkhart and Mr. Jeremy Bell, the Green Dragon Band and Color Guard finished 4th place at the KMEA Regional Quarterfinals earning them a coveted spot in the State Semifinals to be held at Kroger Field in Lexington, Kentucky on Saturday, October 30th.




Students in Mrs. Lemar’s 2nd grade math class went on a Spooktacular Scavenger Hunt where they practiced skills including place value, ordering numbers, addition and subtraction of multi-digit numbers, and even and odd numbers.👻🎃😲




Harlan Elementary students took part in a walk against Cancer today! Each student donated $1 to the fight against Cancer. Funds will be donated to the American Cancer Society. #dragons4aCure 🐉👊🏻




Just a reminder for Sunshine families: Tomorrow night, October 28th, Sunshine School will be hosting their 🍁Fall Festival and 📚Book Fair. Come join the fun from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.

Harlan Independent School District was also ranked #3 for the Best Place to Teach in Kentucky. The district was awarded an Overall Niche Grade of A and ranked #12 out of the 167 K-12 public school districts across the Commonwealth.

Harlan Elementary 21st Century will be hosting a night for parents to learn more about google classroom. It will be held October 19, at 6:00p.m. in the elementary library. HMS Boys Basketball tryouts for 7/8 grade will be Monday, October 18 from 5:00-6:30 in the elementary gym. Tryouts for 5/6 grade will be Thursday, October 21 from 5:00-6:30 in the elementary gym.
