The H.E.S. Library is in full circulation! This year, students are extremely happy that they are able to check out books again, and utilize the Accelerated Reader Program to demonstrate their reading comprehension skills. Our Librarian, Mrs. Lemar, is very excited to be able to instill a love for reading for all of our students here at Harlan Elementary School.

Due to a lack of available officials, the Harlan High vs Jenkins Football game originally scheduled for Friday, September 3rd will now be played on Thursday, September 2nd. The game is set for 7:30PM kickoff at Jenkins High School.

Free meals are available for all students age 18 and under this school year. Meals (breakfast and lunch) for students not enrolled in the Harlan Independent School District or enrolled virtually may be picked up at 11:00a.m. each school day at the Harlan Elementary Gym Door .

The big day is finally here: the First Day of School! As you can probably tell, we have a lot of awesome construction happening at our school, so we are asking you to follow a few rules in order to keep all of our students as safe as possible!
When dropping off your kid(s) at H.E.S., we will have teachers outside ready to walk them into the school, so there is no need to get out of your car. Teachers will also be there to walk your kid(s) to your car when you pick them up.
Also, when picking up your child, we ask that you follow the H.E.S. pick up routes found on the map below based on your child's grade.
Harlan is launching a new mobile app that helps students, parents, and community members know what is happening on campus, right from their phones. We know that families are using smartphones as a primary means to communicate. That’s why we’ve created an app that is custom-built for mobile. On the app, you can find documents, contact information for staff, and event information. You can download the app for free from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
Great things are in store for the students of the Harlan Independent School District this year. The faculty, staff, & administration have been looking forward to this day for a long time with one thing in mind - the success of your student.
Following up on a strong finish to the 2020-2021 school year, we look forward to working with our school community to ensure that student success is our highest priority in the year ahead. We are encouraged by the tremendous outpouring of support by our school community as we embark on the new school year and remain committed to meeting the needs of students regardless of the circumstances they face.
As a reminder, the 2021-2022 School Year will begin for students on Wednesday, August 18th, 2021.
