Sunshine Preschool sees steady growth & is expanding staffing resources to accommodate new students. In addition to adding full-time certified teaching staff during the 22-23 school year, the Board of Education recently approved an additional teaching position for 23-24.

"My name is Will Varner, I graduated from Harlan Independent in 2019. I am also a recent graduate from Johnson University, where I also played baseball. While at Johnson I collected accolades including: 2 time all Mid-East Region, 2023 AAC Gold Glove winner, the first player to reach 100 hits since joining the AAC, and the all time stolen base leader at Johnson University. My hobbies are athletics, coaching, and spending time with my wife, Mackenzie, and my dog, Nico. In my free time I also own and operate my own small business that focuses in youth sports. Becoming an educator at Harlan Independent is nothing short of my dream job. In my time at Harlan, I was beyond fortunate to be surrounded by a community full of loving and supportive people. It’s a privilege to be able to give back to the community that I truly love and continue to mold the bright youth at Harlan Independent."
Harlan Independent Board Approves $5.6M Athletic Project!
An investment of $5,695,000 to construct a new field house, track, and natural turf football field will begin soon. The project is scheduled to be completed in June of 2024 and not impact the current football schedule.
