🐉🐉🐉 Great things happening at HMS: Students in Mrs. Crow’s math class enjoyed pie, donuts, and other circular treats while conducting a Pi Day investigation to discover the relationship between the circumference and diameter of circles. Students chose math tools to gather data and created ratios that led to the discovery of pi.

HMS Parents and Students!! Don't forget - tomorrow, Friday, March 15th is the last day to purchase tickets in advance to the Spring Formal!! Tickets are $25 and can be bought in the Middle School office. Also, during the dance, students will be able to purchase additional items if they choose. Sunshine School's K-4 students are transitioning to Kindergarten! Students recently visited Mrs. Morton and Mrs. Williams and will see Mrs. Howard and Mr. Noe in the next few weeks. Exploring Black History Month: A Digital Literacy Research Project In our Digital Literacy classes, students had the opportunity to understand the significance of Black History Month. The research projects allowed students to explore the rich history, achievements, and contributions of Black individuals throughout history. Through digital resources and tools, they uncovered stories of resilience, innovation, and activism that have shaped our world. Students engaged with diverse perspectives and celebrated the cultural heritage of the Black community during this important month of reflection and learning.

This activity aimed to cultivate critical thinking skills, historical analysis, and teamwork among students. The project commenced with students forming groups, each tasked with the responsibility of dissecting a curated selection of primary sources that delved into various facets of Manifest Destiny. These sources ranged from letters and speeches to songs, government documents, and artwork from the period. The diverse nature of the primary sources ensured a comprehensive exploration of the multifaceted perspectives surrounding westward expansion. Analyzing the primary sources was not merely an academic exercise; it was an opportunity for students to connect with the past on a personal level. By immersing themselves in the words and experiences of historical figures, students gained a profound insight into the motivations, challenges, and consequences of westward expansion.
