💻 Dr. Sean Jackson, K-12 Computer Science Lead from the Kentucky Department of Education, was at Harlan High School today to give some mock AP Scoring.
Students in Dr. Greg Edens AP Computer Science Principles class had their Create Performance Task mock scored to find areas of improvement before final submissions were due, while also being able to engage with an expert in the field of computer science education. Dr. Jackson had many praises to give about the work students at Harlan Independent had put into their Create Performance Task and even noted the knowledge they have when it comes to aspects of coding.
Harlan Independent really appreciates the level of commitment and service KDE provides the school and is always looking to extend a warm welcome to industry and education professionals to come talk with our students.

Harlan Elementary’s Derby Parade will take place on May 5th!
3/4th grade students will participate in a Derby Breakfast. Students may wear their best derby outfits accompanied by hats or fascinators.
K-2 grade students will participate in Derby Races! Students should dress in athletic wear and tennis shoes but may also wear a derby hat. Students can bring their own stick horses to participate in the races! 🐎🐴🌹
