September is the month we celebrate grandparents. Grandparents are a blessing to our students. Harlan Elementary School staff would like to celebrate with you each Friday during the month of September by inviting grandparents to eat breakfast with their grandchild. We have designated each Friday to a certain grade level:
Friday, September 2nd- Kindergarten
Friday, September 9th- 1st Grade
Friday, september 16th- 2nd grade
Friday, September 23rd- 3rd Grade
Friday, September 30th- 4th Grade
You may join your grandchild 7:50 at am in the HES Cafeteria. Breakfast is $3.00 for adults.


HMS Lady Dragons split games at Madison Central Invitational. The 5th/6th grade team defeated Estill County in overtime their first game of the day. Congratulations to Addyson Patton who was named Player of the Game. The 5th/6th grade team lost to Rockcastle County in their second game. The 7th/8th grade team lost a close game to Foley Middle in their first game. The team ended their day with a win over Estill County. Shout out to Harper Carmical who was named named Player of the Game. A HUGE thank you to Chris Wheeler and First Priority for their support and providing shooting shirts for both teams.

Students in Ms. Wilson’s Health & PE classes had a guest in their classes today. Heather Maggard, from the 4-H Extension Office, presented lessons on My Plate to students in K, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades. She also discussed Nutrition Facts labels with 4th graders. Mrs. Maggard also brought along several items for the students, such as pencils, activity books, jump ropes, crayons, and measuring spoons. ✏️
