Ms. Melanie Adams from the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority (KHEAA) stopped by and spoke with our students about various careers. Kindergarten and 1st-grade students played “Career Bingo” while 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades played “Career Headbands.” Thank you, Ms. Melanie, for spending the afternoon with us at Dragons Beyond the Bell: Extreme! 🤍💚🐉

The 21st century teen summer camp toured LMU, Union college and UK this week for College Road Trip Week! 🐉🐉🐉
Harlan Independent Schools would like to congratulate Harlan High School students, Taylor Hall and Jolena Nguyen, for being accepted into SOAR KY's Appalachian Nursing Academy. Taylor and Jolena are two of twenty-five students accepted into this highly competitive program. They will spend two weeks on UPike's campus with 23 other students from around our region. While on campus, they will spend time in the classroom, have hands-on experiences, and shadowing opportunities at University of Pikeville Medical Center. They will also be receiving one-on-one mentoring with medical professionals. Both girls are also awarded $1500 scholarships. Such an awesome opportunity for these two young ladies. #familyofdragons

🚀2nd, 3rd, and 4th-grade students ended their first week of the Dragons Beyond the Bell Summer Extreme program with some exciting activities! Students had to design a prototype of a space station for NASA using marshmallows and toothpicks. Students in the 3rd and 4th grades wrote checks to cover the cost of the materials needed to build their designs.🚀

Last week was "Out of this World"! Visiting the Challenger Center and getting to experience Mission Mars was stellar! Summer camps continue this week with College Road Trip Week! Transportation, food, and activities are all 100% FREE, so share with any students going into 5th grade or higher!
