🐉Harlan High School had a great race yesterday in Somerset! Harper Carmical finished 5th @ 22:38.22 for the girls. She is working hard towards her goal for another State appearance.
The Harlan boys team had some major gains! They all finished under 24 minutes! We are knocking seconds and sometimes minutes off each race and continue to perform. Dalton Halcomb, Cooper Thomas, and Garrett Wilder had huge PR's today! Leading the boys was Dalton Halcomb. Dalton finally reached under 20, at 19:56.68. Cooper Thomas keeps pushing towards his goal of "sub-20". His PR today was 20:41.63. And Garrett Wilder, our Senior boy, has grown so much over this season. He has cut minutes off his time every week! He finished with a PR of 21:27.82. We are so proud of all of our runners. As we head into the end of our season, we believe that our team is peaking at the right time. We can't wait to see how they show up in a few weeks at region. 🐉🐉🌟

Future Career Day in First Grade! ✨🎓
Ms. Freeman’s class had a blast this week participating in an optional Future Career Day for bonus points and a fun literacy challenge! Each student got to dream big, dress up as their future career, and share their aspirations with the class. From doctors and teachers to astronauts and chefs, these first graders blew us away with their creativity, confidence, and writing skills! 📝💫
As part of the activity, students wrote an informational text about their chosen career and presented it to the class—practicing both their writing and public speaking skills. 📚🎤

Permission slips are due Wednesday, October 8th.
All proceeds will go to support a district employee whose husband is battling pancreatic cancer.

🐉 We would like to congratulate our 7/8 Green Dragon Football Team on a fantastic end to the season as they took down Pineville yesterday evening.
These Dragons have improved every single game and have dedicated themselves to the process of being great. We are thankful to the coaching staff that has poured into these kids, the families for their continued support, and the amazing students themselves that have given their all on the field.

Congratulations to our September Fourth Grade Students of the Month! 💚🐉
What a season it has been for our 5th & 6th Grade Green Dragons Football Team! Last night, under the lights and in front of a packed crowd, the Dragons capped off their UNDEFEATED regular season with a hard-fought 30–26 victory over Pineville.
With the win, the Dragons not only finish the regular season perfect, but they also secured the #1 overall seed heading into the conference playoffs! This is a huge accomplishment and a testament to the countless hours of practice, preparation, and teamwork these young men have put in.
We want to give a huge shoutout to Coach Frank Shope and his staff for their leadership, guidance, and belief in these players. Coach Shope has not only taught them the game of football but also the values of discipline, teamwork, and perseverance that will serve them well beyond the field.
To our players — congratulations on this remarkable achievement. Undefeated seasons don’t happen by accident. You earned this through hard work, sacrifice, and a commitment to one another. You’ve made the entire Green Dragon community proud, and we can’t wait to follow you into the playoffs as you chase a championship. 🐉
