🐉👟Great race for the Green Dragons Cross Country Team at the SEKC Championship!  The boys rallied together to place Runner Up! Huge gains for the boys team; Tanner Daniels - 1st Place earning All SEKC, Cooper Thomas with a PR of 19:46, Gibson Wilder with a PR of 20:27, Cruz Galloway with a PR of 21:51, and TL Miller stepping up for his first varsity race getting under 25!  The girls' team was ready to race, as well! Harper Carmical earned a season PR of 22:12, with a 7th place finish earning All SEKC. Priscilla Stewart is back at 25:00 for her season PR. On Friday, our students, staff, and community had the special privilege of welcoming Senator Scott Madon to Harlan Independent School District. His visit was both inspiring and encouraging—a wonderful reminder of how powerful it is when leaders invest time in the next generation.

Throughout the day, Senator Madon joined families for the HES Grandparents Breakfast, toured classrooms to see students actively engaged in learning and leading their own projects, participated in the District Cancer Walk, and spoke to classes about public service, civic engagement, and leadership. He also spent meaningful time with teachers and staff, celebrating successes, listening to their experiences, and hearing firsthand about the opportunities and challenges in education today.

Thank you, Senator Madon, for taking time out of your busy schedule to visit Harlan Elementary, Harlan Middle, and Harlan High School. Most of all, thank you for encouraging our future leaders and showing how much you care about education and community. 💚🐉

Harlan Elementary was excited to welcome Tracy Laughner with Plan Ahead Smiles to Mrs. Wilson’s class this week! Students learned all about the importance of dental health and how to keep their smiles bright and healthy.
