Dental Hygienist Tracy Laughner presented a program focusing on the importance of good dental hygiene and oral health. Students in Mrs. Luttrell's English II classes recently visited the Nancy & David Wolf Holocaust & Humanity Center in Cincinnati, OH. Sponsored by HHS GEAR-UP, the trip began by visiting Northern Kentucky University.
Mrs. Luttrell's students have been studying Man's Inhumanity to Man through learning about the events and causes that led to the Holocaust. Visiting the museum allowed the students to experience stories of "courage, perseverance, loss, redemption...told by Holocaust survivors." Students explored characteristic strengths needed to become upstanders to injustice.
Visiting the museum humanizes the horrific event of the Holocaust for students, and they will now be able to make connections to the events and atrocities of the Holocaust when reading Nobel prize winner Eli Wiesel's memoir Night.
