🥎🏆 The HMS Softball Lady Dragons are District Champions! Coming off a stellar end-of-season run, the Lady Dragons continue their hot streak and sweep through the District Tournament today at Bell County.
The Lady Dragons won their first game of the tournament yesterday against Lynn Camp 12-0. They followed that up with a narrow victory against Bell County in the Semifinals today 2-0, and then dominated the championship game against Harlan County 8-2. The Lady Dragons won their second championship of the season after previously winning the 13th Region All-A Tournament.
We would like to congratulate coaches Courtney, Scott, and Noah Lewis for leading this group of Lady Dragons to an amazing season. We would also like to recognize the All-Tournament Team:

It's another Softball Saturday for the HHS Lady Dragons!! This morning, they are traveling to Knott County Central High School where they will first face the Lady Hawks from Pike County Central at 9:00 am. 🥎 Tonight is a big one! The HMS Lady Dragon Softball Team will host HC tonight at 5:30. These girls need everybody to come out and support them for this battle!
The HES Kindergarten play is almost here! We are so excited! Our students have worked very hard! The play is on Friday, May 10th, at 6:00 pm in the elementary school auditorium. Tickets for the play will be sent home. Please let your child’s teacher know how you would like them to be distributed. Each child will receive four tickets.
HES Field Day is quickly approaching! Make sure to dress appropriately and wear tennis shoes! 👟
We would like to share some exciting announcements and highlights from the high school over the past few weeks.
Firstly, we are excited to announce the launch of the Harlan High School Financial Management Entrepreneurial Project - Harlan Dragon’s Kitchen, which provides students with hands-on experience in financial planning and entrepreneurship.
We are grateful for the support of our local businesses, including Cash Saver, Don's Super Saver, Southern Wholesale, Customs by V T-shirts, and Shirt Shack. Their contributions make a significant difference in our students' learning journey.
We would also like to thank Kyle Wilson with BoomKY for their guidance and support throughout this endeavor.
In light of recent successes, we have been able to offer lunch to the hardworking Harlan Independent School Staff on 3 separate occasions, thanks to the dedication and efforts of our students.
As we continue to strive for excellence, we want to express our sincerest gratitude for your continued partnership and support. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of our students.
